It is with great pleasure that the faculty and staff of College of Staten Island High School for International Studies welcome back the classes of 2010, 2011, and 2012 and warmly welcome the class of 2013! We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with wonderful learning experiences both in and out of the classroom including welcoming exchange students from Switzerland, a sophomore, junior, and senior college trip, a Freshman Unity Day, more amazing editions of The International Insider, a 10th grade Model United Nations Simulation, Junior Rite of Passage, Senior Capstone Fair, a senior film festival, our second graduation, and more!
All freshman should report to school on Wednesday, September 9th by 8:30 am and proceed to their advisory class. All sophomores, juniors and seniors should report by 9:15 am and should proceed directly to the auditorium where we will have our traditional Opening Ceremony.
All students are reminded that your summer project, which counts in all of your classes as well as towards your Advisory grade, is due on September 9th. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 8th for program pickup and for the start of a fabulous school year filled with great accomplishments on Wednesday, September 9th.

It was great to see you all of our returning students today, to meet some of our incoming freshman, and to have some of our graduate come and visit! Mac, Conrad, Emily, Perry, Chris, and John thanks so much for stopping by. We miss you guys!
First day of school and our Opening Ceremony were a great success. Student speakers representing the class of 2010, the class of 2011, the class of 2012 and the class of 2013 offered words of encouragement, spoke of lessons learned, and explained how to achieve success as a member of our school's learning community. They spoke of the wonderful opportunities our students have such as study abroad, Freshman Summer Institute, drumming circles, our outstanding athletic programs, Model United Nations, and more. Each faculty member offered an inspirationsl quote and students learned about our school's core values and the importance of community from both the Principal, Aimee Horowitz and the Assistant Principal, Joeseph Canale.
In their advisories students reconnected and participated in getting to know you and team building activities. Looking forward to seeing those freshman banners decorating our rooms once again--this is now a well established tradition! Can't wait to see how creative the class of 2013 will be!!!
