WARNER MUSIC GROUP EXECS HOST CSIHSIS STUDENTS

Today, thanks to our Principal for a Day, WMG Chief Financial Officer Matt Signore, twenty three CSIHSIS freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors visited Warner Music Group for a round table and lunch with executives from the music business. Students were able to learn first hand about a variety of careers, what employers look for when they are hiring new employees, how school can impact your career, and how WMG is making efforts to go green and sharing their knowledge with others.

Many thanks to Melissa Leitman and PENCIL for helping to arrange this partnership for our school and for the new opportunities it is creating for our students. A special thank you to David Sassano for all his work behind the scenes in organizing today and to Matt Signore for being passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, and to the WMG team we met today for sharing their passion for what they do and their experiences with us. We look forward to our continued partnership.

Read our students' reflections on a wonderful day!

my name is Gabriella Iacono and i went on the warner bros. trip. i love music acting and being behind the camra. but i learned there was a lot more then that to put something out. i know that people had to edit the movie or records and everything else but. there is a lot more. you would have to have tecnology people to actually download the music to whaever you want weather it is putting it on a cd or on itunes. then another thing is you would have to get somebody to find some one. you would also have to help the musicians record the song. i learned that putting a album or dvd out would be more complicated then i thought but i dont care. because i still love it and i will still follow my dreames of this career.

Hi, I'm Fiona Jung, freshman in CSIHS. Today, I went on the Warner Bros. Music trip. It was indeed really really cool. I met people I didn't really talk to in CSI and now were good friends. I loved how every executive talked about there childhood and how they achieved there goal. In the future I want to publisize artists around the around world who are not as well known. This trip taught me alot about the music indusrty. I will try my best to achieve my goal. [:

Hey my name is Caroline Pinsky and the Warner Brother trip helped me realize that if you decide to enter the world of entertainment you should truly be interested in music ,business and working with others collaboratively. What really surprised me , was the new environmental protection that Warner Brothers is starting. They are making a difference and trying to reduce and reuse to make a cleaner environment for all. If you want to work for Warner Brother then I suggest you be prepared for a long road ahead of you.
I had a great experience!

My name is Radwa Ahmed and I attended the trip for Warner Brothers. It was an amazing experience to see how these folks had no interest of working in the music business, and then, with an education they were able to reach success in their life. They gave inspiring advice to have belief in your self and go to college. I want to do web designing when I'm older and I learned how the music business uses web designs to get artist known. Other than the free stuff we received I agree with Carolina Pinsky how it’s very unique Warner Brothers help the environment by not using plastic bottles. I hope we have more opportunities to work with Warner Brothers and be able to do something for our environment.

Hi, my name is Leonard Krkuti. I would first like to thank the Warner Brothers Music Group & also the person that made this all happen our princiable Mrs.Horowitz. This trip helped me out so much. Just The exectuives talking to us about there lives, asking questions and meeting them was the best. One man apart of the group helped me out a lot giving me tips and tricks on how to record my music and further my editing skills. I learned that there are two parts of the music industry. The first part was recording the music and making the music. The other side was advertising the music. The Bussinues side of the music industry is things such as selling the product over the internet, in stores and also advertising to let everyone know what is going on. Such as letting the customer know when the ablum is going to be relased, when or where shows will be played. Learning all this opened up a whole new door for me. Not only am i good and making the music i make, but also the art work I do.It gave me a better chance at making it in the music bussinues. Therefore i thank the Warner Brothers Music Group & also Mrs.Horowitz. Thank you so much! I will never forget that day, and I hope that I will be able to particapte in other trips and activites such as this one. Once again thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hi, my name is Breanna Pizzolo and I'd like to thank Mrs. Horrowitz, and The Warner Brothers Music for letting us come and visit the company. This experience was with out a doubt an amazing one that has taught me so much about not only performing, but more of the business side of music. It was so interesting to personally hear the stories of the executive's lives and how hey got there today. I now realize how much hard work it takes to successfully put out an album, or hire a new artist in the music industry. Just seeing people coming into to work and loving what they do made me feel like working for Warner Music Company is a wonderful opportunity. Talking one on one with the executives was a great feeling because it showed us what it was like to be in charge of certain things for a company. Music has always been something close to me and going on this trip has made me realize how music is even more interesting then just music and lyrics. We got to really see "behind the scenes" from going on this trip and overall I had a blast.

Thank You,
Breanna Pizzolo =]

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
John F. Kennedy
This trip has inspired us CSI High School students to chose paths in life, but to know they can always change. My name is Steven Birch, Im a sophomore at the Jerome Parker Campus, CSI High School For International Studies. I would like to give a special thanks to Warner Brothers Music, Matt Signore, Mike Jbara and many more. I would also like to thank Melissa Leitman who gave me information for my article for our international insider. The last thanks of the night goes to Ms. Aimee Horowitz, for giving me the opportunity to take on something that can help me further in life.
Learning not only form the performing side, us students at CSI were giving the 1st hand information on how the business worked in the Music Industry. Everyone's role decided on one another. learning about what lead these successful people to their career gave me a better prospective on life. You never know where your going to wind up, this world is full of many opportunities. Designing and Photograph is a major role in the Music Industry, and maybe one day I can fill someone's shoes.
Warner Brother Music is one of the 1st music industries to go green. Mike Jbara talking about how most of the materials they use such a paper is 100% post consumer. WEA Corp., Received the Inaugural Green Award for Environmental Responsibility while attending the National Association of Recording Merchandisers Convention. They also helped reduce the amount 4,000,000 pounds of solid waste, over the past year. This makes me think If this company can do it, so can we. We can get every school across the island to recycle and make the world that much of a better place.
The impact that this experience left on my life is tremendous. I will never forget any of the advise I was given from the fellow Warner Brother Music executives. I'm looking forward to conferencing with you guys again.
Thank You, Steven Birch

Hey, I'm Paulina Plata, one of the juniors who attended the trip. I would like to thank Mrs.Horowitz so much for giving us the opportunity to be able to attend something so informing. It has definitely helped me narrow down my choices for what career path I should follow, especially since I'll be graduating next year. This was a wonderful experience and I hope to do something like this again. :)

Hey guys, it's Peter Grancio. I was lucky enough to attend the Warner Brothers trip a few days ago, and after repeatedly listening to the free CD's and wearing the TShirt i got i realized how much i learned. After being assembled in their conference room we heard their life stories which was very long, but interesting! But the question and answer part was when i really learned the most. I had a few one on one discussions with some of the lead executives of the Warner Music department, and besides that being a cool story to tell it was also very informative in a lot of different ways. I discussed sales, exclusive albums, the recording process, and many other things with these very informative guys. And the reason i refer to them as "guys" is because they were all very cool and not threatening to talk to at all.
It was a great experience and i'd love to do it again.
