DRAGON DRUMMERS LEAD COMMUNITY DRUM CIRCLE!

On March 25, 2010 CSI High School Dragon Drummers facilitated a Community Drum Circle for members of our school and our local community. This gave our students an opportunity to put the leadership skills they have learned into practice while sharing the drum circle experience with the Staten Island community. Through the drum circle experience students also educated community members about the various types of drums and other instruments that our part of our percussion ensemble while raising money to enable us to purchase Japanese Taiko drums. Many thanks to our wonderful student facilitators and to their teacher, Ms. Melissa Packowski, for providing the community with this experience.

I am so proud of our student facilitators. You did an awesome job and made sure all that participated had an awesome time! I can't wait for our next community drum circle! I also want to commend you on the work you are doing with students from across the city as they come to our school and you visit their schools to provide them with the drum circle experience!!! Go Dragon Drummers!

It was great to be a part of the drum circle group and even greater to be a facilitator for a community. To be in a drum circle has truly taught me and all the other participants not only how to help one another, but also how to lead and become our own person as developed through our music. Leadership and the ability to listen and follow are valued not only in the music but in the real world. Thanks so much Mrs. P and all my fellow facilitators for the experience, the friendship and the acceptance! It was an honor to play, and I'll never loose that groove! =D
